Reid State Community College has been awarded a $60,000 grant from the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) to integrate high-fidelity neonatal simulation technology into its Nursing program. The funding will launch an innovative project titled “RURAL ROOTS, STRONG STARTS: Neonatal Simulation for the Region 7 Nursing Workforce,” directly addressing rural healthcare disparities and nurse shortages across Conecuh, Butler, Monroe, Escambia and Wilcox counties.

While sixth-grader Jadea Holder has her sights set on becoming a doctor one day, a welding summer camp this week sparked an unexpected interest in another high-demand career field. Jadea was one of nearly 20 middle school students from multiple counties who participated in Reid State’s Experience N.O.W. (Navigating Opportunities and Work) Welding Summer Camp, held June 15-18 at the Conecuh County Schools Workforce Development Center (WDC).

Reid State Community College Industrial Electronics Technology (ILT) student Spencer Stallworth has been named a recipient of the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA) scholarship. Stallworth will receive a $4,000 award to be utilized toward his tuition, fees and book costs as he prepares for a high-demand career in the automotive manufacturing sector.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) recently awarded Reid State Community College a $10,000 grant to support adult literacy. The funds contribute to a record setting, single day total of nearly $16 million in grants nationwide—supporting adult, family, and summer literacy programs in the 48 states where Dollar General operates. The milestone surpasses the Foundation’s previous record of more than $13.2 million granted in May 2025.
